Professor of health law at the University of Amsterdam/Academic Medical Center. He is also a judge in de Central Medical Disciplinary Board of the Netherlands and in the Appeals Court of Den Bosch, and an member of the Advisory Board of the Dutch Data Protection Authority. His research focusses on the evaluation of legislation (mainly patients’ rights, quality of care and medical decisionmaking at the end of life). Johan is the Ethics Advisor for the HealthPros Project. The role of the EA is to ensure that the project will comply with the national legislation and ethics.

Michael is a policy advisor at OECD, and is specialized in health systems performance assessment, quality of care, performance indicators and primary care. His current work is driven by the ambition to move towards a new generation of indicators that will enhance international learning on value of healthcare as reported by patients themselves.  Michael studied sociology and has been working on health services research and policy advice since over fifteen years. Before working at OECD, Michael led the Dutch Healthcare Performance Report, which comprises a set of indicators measuring quality, access and affordability of the Dutch healthcare system.

Erica Barbazza, MSc, BHSc

A HealthPros fellow and PhD candidate at the Academic Medical Centre of the University of Amsterdam on the transferability of actionable healthcare performance indicators. She previously was a technical officer on health services delivery at the WHO European Centre for Primary Health Care in Kazakhstan and the WHO European Regional Office for Europe in Denmark. She has provided technical assistance on health services delivery in more than 10 countries in Europe and central Asia and has authored numerous reports, policy documents and peer-reviewed articles on her work. Bernardo graduated as a medical doctor from the UNAM in Mexico City, and has coursed masters in Health Economics and Bioethics at the universities of Heidelberg and KU Leuven. He has several years experience as a consultant in pharmacoeconomics and as data analyst for the Mexican healthcare industry. A medical doctor who began his career working as an advisor in the area of quality and safety in health care at the Ministry of Health of Slovenia. He participated in several projects in the area of quality management, including the preparation of a national framework of quality indicators in health care and of the first annual report on those indicators. He began working at the National Institute of Public Health in Slovenia in 2011 and completed his specialist training in the area of public health in 2016.
