I was born on the 4th of February ‘88 in Ankara, Turkey. I received my bachelor’s degree (2012) and master’s degree (2017) in statistics from Hacettepe University, Ankara, Turkey. During my master’s I took survival analysis courses which I liked very much and studied further about it. My master’s thesis titled “Cure Models in Survival Analysis” which I basically used cure models to obtain cure rates for different scenarios, when being cured is a probability, and interpret covariates’ effects on survival time and being cured probability. I also For statistical analysis, I am used to work with SPSS, Stata and R and for programming, I have knowledge of programming in R, STATA and C, mostly in R.

I lived in Bremen, Germany as an Erasmus+ student for six months during my master’s degree (March 2016 – October 2016) and studied at Bremen University and Leibniz Institute for Prevention Research and Epidemiology which was an excellent experience overall and inspired me a lot to continue my research and do a PhD. I am very interested in different cultures, sharing our ideas and different approaches and getting to know people from different backgrounds which made my Erasmus+ experience even more valuable for me.

My primary field of interest is statistical methods in health research, survival analysis and epidemiology.  I am a Healthpros fellow and PhD candidate at Aalborg University Hospital working on healthcare performance measurement.
