Frank Horenberg

Frank started studying Medical Informatics in 2012 at the University of Amsterdam. During his second and third year of his bachelor he was a student teaching assistant in topics such as Java, MatLab, SQL, HTML and R. He was also active as the commissioner education and chairman of student association MIKpunt and vice-chairman of the board of studies.

During his bachelor his interest concerning benchmarking was found when developing an application to measure protocol adherence of anesthesiologists at the surgical ward in the Academic Medical Center (AMC) in Amsterdam. The insights gained by looking at data, defining models and statistical tests to provide proof how “good” anesthesiologists performed during surgeries was astonishing and was one of his reasons for joining HealthPros. He was also involved in several research projects at the AMC concerning; quality indicators in registries, value based healthcare, shared decision-making, teleconsultation and patients portals.

During his studies Frank developed interests for many topics such as; registration and standardization, programming, process modelling, strategic information management, programming & engineering, (technical) innovations in healthcare, interoperability problems and many more. During his bachelor thesis he combined research and business at KSYOS telemedical center and evaluated multiple telemedicine applications.

After achieving his bachelor degree Frank started with the master medical informatics and wrote his master thesis at ZIVVER, focusing on patient portal usage in the Netherlands. After his graduation, Frank started working as a business consultant at ZIVVER, a software company focusing on a user-friendly solution for secure email, chat and file transfer. He was responsible for the implementation of ZIVVER at more than twenty large healthcare organizations and worked at various departments to measure, evaluate and improve internal processes.

In June 2018 he was selected as a healthPros fellow in Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies in Pisa, Italy. (ESR12)
